CURVED (BENT) GLASS

Curved glass is a high-performance solution produced by heating flat glass and shaping it into a curved form using specialized molds. Manufactured as tempered, laminated, or insulated glass, it offers both aesthetic and structural advantages in modern façade systems. In laminated glass, vacuuming and autoclave processes ensure superior adhesion and safety. Resistant to wind, thermal stress, and impact, curved glass adds both elegance and durability to architectural projects.

GLASS TYPES

Tempered Curved Glass
– Strengthened through a heat treatment process.
– Shatters into small, blunt pieces upon breakage for enhanced safety.

Insulated Curved Glass
– Can be manufactured using double or triple glazing combinations.
– Provides thermal and sound insulation.

Laminated Curved Glass
– Composed of two or more layers of glass bonded with PVB or SGP interlayers.
– Offers safety, UV protection, and impact resistance.

CURVED INSULATED GLASS

Curved insulated glass units (IGUs) consist of two (or more) pieces of glass with a spacer bar between them to help with energy efficiency, noise reduction and temperature control. Curved insulated glass units can be made in any thickness with a structure consisting of annealed, laminated or tempered curved glass.

We offer a wide range of hard coating and soft coating LowE options to meet design and energy requirements. With POLMEK Curved Glass' IGUs you can build light, airy spaces, meeting complex energy and performance requirements and reducing heating and cooling costs throughout the year.

CURVED COMMERCIAL GLASS

In contemporary architecture, non-standard, organic forms are increasingly used to reflect the vision of architects. Curved façade glass, specially bent for these designs, is often preferred in commercial buildings to support this vision. These glass elements are an essential part of modern and aesthetic architectural expression.

WHERE IS CURVED COMMERCIAL GLASS USED?

• Shopping Malls
• Hotels
• Office Buildings and Towers
• Airports and Transportation Hubs
• Healthcare Facilities (Hospitals, Clinics)
• Restaurants and Cafés
• Showrooms and Galleries

CURVED SMART GLASS

Curved Smart glass goes from clear to frosted when powered on and off, providing privacy on demand. Simply flick a switch, press a button, use your smartphone or make a voice command and the glass will instantly switch to opaque. This allows you to show off your curved glass without any compromise on privacy or natural light. Bent smart glass still allows two thirds of natural light through when switched to frosted, blocks UV and IR light and cuts the glare from sunlight.

CURVED GLASS PROCESS

The example drawing illustrates the production and shaping process of tempered glass. Low-E glass, laminated glass, and insulated glass also undergo similar production processes, although each type of glass has its own specific additional treatments

APPLICATIONS

• Curved curtain wall panels for offices, shopping malls, airports and State halls.
• Bent shaped glass partitions.
• Hotels, Restaurants
• Curved glass staircases, balustrades, skylights and arched roof.
• Bent laminated glass revolving doors and open elevators.
